FREEDOM is an exhibition that reflects on the African American journey toward freedom, past, present and future. In honor of Juneteenth this exhibition showcasing perspectives on freedom by Black artists.

In the fifth grade, I couldn’t help but count down every waking moment until lunch. Six children including myself would huddle around a cafeteria table with a forearm deep in a brown paper lunch sack, and the meanest 10-year-old poker face. After a few moments of collective silence, we all revealed our top-tier lunch snack to the masses which then prompted each child to take a moment for themselves to calculate their next move. I knew it would be rough but I was determined to flip this oatmeal cream-pie for Wesley’s Gushers or Aaron’s Kool-Aid Jammer. Now watch this Black Boy Fly.
